Movie Day!

It’s raining, it’s pouring…a perfect day for a movie! I deliberated on taking Liam to see Toy Story 3 – James thought it was a terrible idea, but my mom friends thought we could manage with enough snacks in hand. So I packed our bag full of goodies and headed to the Regal Cinema in Silver Spring for the 10 AM show. Liam’s been to the movies before, but this time he’s old enough to appreciate what’s on screen, so Woody and Buzz Lightyear captivated his attention. At least for the first 40 minutes. He was my sweet little cuddle, just snuzzling his blankie, reaching his chubby hand into the snack bag for cookies, and taking the occasional drag from the milk cup. But then his tummy got full, and he wanted to do something else. I tried my best to keep him still, but in the end it was better to let him run around the theater. Fortunately we were the only patrons, so we weren’t disturbing anyone else. We went up the stairs, down the stairs, up the stairs, down the stairs. When a dog popped up on screen, he’d stop, point, and shout, “Baaa!” When the piggy bank made an appearance, he made his piggy noise. When Woody’s horse galloped by, I heard a triumphant, “Neigh!” So, even though he wanted to play, he still seemed to enjoy the movie. And I did, too – the third installment is every bit as good as the last two.

All-in-all he did well, considering his age. I’m debating on taking him to see Despicable Me once it’s been in the theater awhile. Liam liked those little yellow guys in the trailer. Probably thought they were dogs.
