So much for Tae Kwon Do

I was so thrilled when Liam finally seemed to enjoy his new Tae Kwon Do class. But, alas, it was a total fluke. The following week, he was like, “Wait, I have to go back and do this AGAIN?” He kept fake falling down, and the instructor had him do push ups if he fell more than three times in a row. No prizes that night. The next class he left early because of a belly ache. And then it was all I could do to get him to even come, prizes or no. Last week he made it through 15 minutes before he complained that his feet hurt and that he just…couldn’t…move…his arms anymore. Wahhh.

Aside from his obvious reluctance, the class seemed flawed in other ways. You know how hard it is to drill kids in kicks and punches when they can hardly tell their left from their right? It all seemed way too complicated for a five-year-old, plus the timing was really screwing up our bedtime routine.

So, no more Tae Kwon Do. At least not until he’s older.
